Partnerships are Vital to our Mission
Building trust with community members is both a goal and a method for Whole Communities–Whole Health (WCWH). One key part of the project lies in forming relationships that can stand the test of time, allowing research to blend into the everyday lives and priorities of the people in eastern Travis County.
Ultimately, WCWH aims to leave a lasting impact on the community, providing insights into both its strengths and health challenges.
How to get Involved
At Whole Communities–Whole Health, we are proud to work alongside community organizations that share our commitment to improving health and well-being in south-eastern Travis County and neighboring communities. Together, we’ve hosted events like the Community Resource Day, provided trainings on topics related to our research and collaborated on initiatives that address local needs.
As a community-engaged research initiative, it's important that we offer support, in the ways that we can, to others doing the important work of direct service. Our partnerships offer opportunities to:
- Access WCWH research data to inform your programs
- Collaborate to collect data that can help inform your program
- Promote your surveys and focus groups through our participant network
- Gather insights and feedback from our Community Strategy Team
We’re always looking to expand our collaborations and welcome new ideas. If you or your organization would like to explore how we could work together, request info on our partner trainings, or get involved in our annual Community Resource Day, please get in touch with Shirene Garcia.

Join our Community Strategy Team
Centering our research on the community's interests is critical to our mission.
That’s why the Community Strategy Team (CST) is at the heart of our work, guiding our studies and ensuring they reflect the values and priorities of local families.
CST members play a vital role in:
- Providing feedback to researchers at every stage of the study
- Helping shape how findings are shared with the community
- Strengthening connections between researchers and local families
CST members play a key role in guiding the WCWH family study, ensuring that our efforts remain aligned with the community's values and needs.
If you live or work in these areas and want to get involved, we typically recruit new CST members each summer. For more information or to express interest, contact Shirene Garcia.

Sign Up for Our Registry
Are you interested in learning about research studies you or your family may qualify for? Join the WCWH Research Registry! By signing up, you’ll receive updates about opportunities to participate in studies that aim to understand and improve the health and well-being of families.
Please note: By signing up for the registry, you are NOT agreeing to participate in a study. Participation in research studies is always voluntary, and you can leave a study at any time. Many studies offer compensation of some kind. Once in the research registry, we will contact you when a study is available to give you more information, and you may decide if you want to participate.
