The Texas Futures VR Experience project transformed results from several Planet Texas 2050-funded research projects into an immersive, entertaining, and educational VR experience. Many environmental and sustainability research results lack approaches to engage the general public. The team leveraged VR technology and game design techniques to attract non-experts to get involved. Beyond the excitement, we designed a storyline and interactive games that strictly reflect major environmental challenges, key research results, and practical next steps. Through the around 20-minute VR experience, we wish to transfer knowledge to users and arouse their curiosity on these research topics simultaneously.
