Unfurling the Flagships

About

In 2021, our symposium remained virtual due to the ongoing pandemic. This year’s event helped introduce the pivot from funded research projects to Flagships. Building on the successes and lessons learned between 2018-2020, Flagship projects are designed to foster long-term interdisciplinary research collaboration and stakeholder engagement in key areas of resilience-related research. These include biodiversity, disaster planning, circular economies, and environmental justice, while also using the tools of archaeology and integrated modelling to understand our past and inform our possible futures.

These six projects tackle the biggest issues we uncovered in the first phase of our grand challenge initiative. Between May 10-12, 2021, the leaders of our Flagships introduced their visions for the next four years (2022-2025).
