EVENT: Artificial intelligence researchers from The University of Texas at Austin are joining a panel of Austin tech leaders to discuss how we can ensure that AI advances are consistent with established ethical standards so that they’re compatible with society’s needs and values.
Even with the best intentions, AI can be harmful in ways we fail to predict because it’s developed by humans with biases and competing priorities. At the same time, AI has the potential to make our lives safer, our work faster and more efficient, and help us achieve things we couldn’t do without it. So how can technologists be sure these advances are beneficial and not detrimental to society? Panelists include:
- Junfeng Jiao, Associate Professor, The University of Texas at Austin
- Charlie Burgoyne, Founder & CEO, Valkyrie Intelligence
- Chris Burns, Sr. AI/ML Solutions Architect, Amazon Web Services
- Rick Hennessy, US Central Lead, Fjord Designed Intelligence
- Stephen Straus, Managing Director, KUNGFU.AI
- Rebecca Taylor, Industry Fellow, The Ethics Project
