Deep down the bayous in Southern Louisiana live several Indigenous communities, among them are the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe (PACIT). While we often imagine that Native southerners were all forcibly removed from their homelands in the 19th century, PACIT is one of many communities who found strategies that allowed them to remain in their homelands.
