Researchers from the University of Texas recently received grant funding to set up a delivery robotic network on campus– the robots will start being deployed around UT campus in early 2023. They don’t stop there.

These autonomous robots will rove the buildings and streets of UT next fall. The purpose of them is to help researchers understand and improve the experience of pedestrians when they encounter them.

A new grant to an interdisciplinary team of researchers at UT Austin will support the creation of a robot delivery network on campus, with the first deployments scheduled for early 2023.

Beaumont-Port Arthur, home to the world’s largest oil refinery and a major hub in the global energy sector, is a convergence zone for risks of flooding and air pollution. Researchers at Lamar University, Texas A&M University, Prairie View A&M University, and Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) in Tennessee will join UT Austin to operate the Southeast Texas Urban Integrated Field Lab (SETx-IFL).

Assistant Professor Katherine Lieberknecht is among a team of researchers who received $17M from the Department of Energy to establish a research center to study the impacts of flooding and air pollution in Beaumont.

Just before the start of the school year, Del Valle Independent School District (DVISD) held it's first Back to School Bash in recent memory. Over 1,000 people attended the evening event on Aug. 4, which provided an opportunity for local families to access resources, have fun, and get into the school spirit.
